  • Produce variance analysis and clear commentary to explain financial performance.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong control over key accounts.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and longer-term financial planning processes.

  • Partner with budget holders and internal stakeholders to support decision-making and financial performance.
  • Monitor costs and identify areas for improved financial control and efficiency.

  • Maintain and improve finance processes, controls and ways of working within a remote environment.
  • Use accounting systems and Excel effectively to manage reporting, analysis and data accuracy.
  • Support the wider finance team with ad hoc analysis, reporting and commercial insight.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, simplification and continuous improvement across finance operations.

Expertise you bring

  • Previous experience in a Management Accountant, Finance Analyst, Assistant Finance Manager or similar role.
  • Strong experience preparing monthly management accounts and supporting month-end close.
  • Good working knowledge of accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, journals and financial reporting.
  • Experience producing budgets, forecasts, variance analysis and management information.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence using accounting and reporting systems.
  • Good commercial awareness and the ability to explain numbers clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Experience working with budget holders or wider operational teams would be beneficial.
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CA(SA) or equivalent qualification would be relevant depending on the level of the role, although part-qualified, finalist and QBE candidates may also be considered.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately to deadlines.
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage workload effectively in a remote working environment.
  • Experience improving finance processes, controls or reporting would be advantageous.

Your skills for success
